I know this is beating a dead horse. But I am still unsure of where to mount this new Chirp Transducer.
My neighbor put one in his boat that the resolution is amazing.
I thought I saw some pictures of the ducer mounted
on Port sponson about 2" inside the outer edge. Cant find them any more.
So I am asking for help Close up pictures of transom mount ducers.
Anything that will help.

maybe I missed the type of transducer in your post, but, that would help. I've mounted both thru hull and shoot through designs in the starboard hull just outside the stringer running parallel to the sponson. Most recently, I put a B175M in that position on my 27SF. The larger hole is a challenge, but, it will work.
No matter where you put it, I doubt you will get as good a result as with a monohull when you are crusing in anything more than smooth water. Just a small trade off.
1040XS is a nice machine. I bet you will like it.

I sure would like some pictures of just where you put it.
I saw some a while back on the forum but cant find them.
I cant find a model # for the transducer all it says is
77/200 kHz (Traditional) and 455kHz (DownView
Might be a GT20-TM

I don't have a picture, but, it is easy to describe the location.
Starboard Hull:
Look straight down through your motor well inspection port. I'm guessing you have the original 8 inch round ports. You can see what looks like a fiberglass wall 6 or 7 inches tall running parallel with the hull and located in just about the center. On one side of this wall, towards the tunnel of your hull, you will see the bilge pump. On the opposite side of the wall is where I have located my B175M. Previously, I had an M260 shoot thru mounted in the same location. It's about the only place you can get to the mount the transducer. Mount it close to the wall. That will insure you are shooting straight down and be sure you have the zero tilt model. The hole for the B175M had to be 3 7/8 inches. I doubt you will be mounting one requiring any bigger hole. If you are.....probably better do some more research. I think most of the 600watt units only require somewhere around a 2 inch hole which is much easier.
If your unit is a shoot through, I would enlarge that 8 inch inspection port to 10inches using an Armstrong inspection port assembly. That way you can sort of get two hands in there to mount the enclosure.
If you have not done a through hull, you may consider paying to have a pro do it. The $500 is worth it to be done right and that's about what it will cost.
I'm no expert, but, I have had some experience with these.

I guess I misunderstood.
I want to mount it on the outside of the sponson.
I have a P79 Shoot Through currently on my old Lawranc HiDef mounted in the Port sponson that worked OK but I don't care about drilling any holes at this point.
I know I saw some pictures of Transom mounted ducers.
My neighbor also had a shoot through and when he got his new 1040xs screens he mounted the ducer on the outside.
And i tell you the picture is quite impressive compared to the what the shoot through gave him.
