Larger transducers...sellis

Postby Daybreaker » Fri Jun 12, 2015 2:45 pm

I have posted this question before.I'll try it again.Has anybody came up with a way to mount a larger inhull transducer. There is not enough room in the rear for a R199 or R111 or a R509.These are large commercial units. It seams strange to buy a large boat (33TE) and be limited to a 260 series transducer? .It was wondering if you can take a gas tank out and mount one below that? You can cut a hole in one of the side fish boxes ,but the transducer will come out of the water in rough seas.Any ideas..Capt.Mike

We have gone to lengths to try to do the same thing you want to do. We gave up. Short of a fairing block there is nowhere in that massive boat to put a 2-3k inhull ducer. We thought the same as you about under fishbox but it is simply too far fwd in the boat. I suppose a very talented glass guy could fabricate something by moving bulkheads and bilge pumps, but that is beyond our tolerance for simplicity. When we bought the boat we figured there surely was a 33 out there that had whipped this problem but haven't found anybody yet.
