Looking to check out 266 / 270 World NJ / NYC area.

Postby robd19 » Thu Aug 21, 2014 12:44 pm

Hey guys. My name is Bobby and I've decided I want to get a Cat. I have read and reread almost every THT, World Cat and Glacier bay forum there is. Read about Cat Idiosyncrasies and advantages/disadvantages of one of over the other. I've basicly narrowed it down to the World cat 266/270 series or Glacier Bay 2680. However, after all the reading I'm finally down to what counts . . .the ride. I would like to see if thee is anyone that would be willing to give me a ride on a world cat. Of course I would be happy to pay for fuel and compensate you for your time. I am in Jersey city but would be happy to travel any reasonable distance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Bobby

Hi Bobby, I do own a WorldCat 266SC and could not be happier. I've owned most every type of hull, most recently 27 foot center counsole and what I can tell you is what I've experienced...

-An amazing smooth ride in most sea conditions
-cut thru other boat wakes like butter
-very efficient gas burn
-sits high in water with only a 12 inch draft
-won't turn as quick as a mono hull but a lot more stable fishing platform
-great all round boat for family outings and fishing

Now, it's not a high performance cigar boat or Miss Budweiser, but it's a very safe boating platform, looks great and fun to drive.

Personally, I don't need to go faster than 30-35mph cruise, really don't understand why others would being your fuel burn suffers dramatically at higher RPMs...for what?, to get there 15 min earlier? But she has the speed when needed, about 40-45 with twin 175s.

I suggest finding a local boat dealer on the water that may have listed a WorldCat for sale. They would most certainly take you out to test drive. If motivated, they may give you a great deal.

All the best

Hey Bobby
We have a two dealers in NJ. Schrader yacht sales in Point Pleasant and Pier 47 in Wildwood. They both can help you out.

Hey Bill. Thanks for the offer. I think you may have been filling up at the fuel dock this past sunday at Liberty Landing. I was in the proline behind you just pulling out. Anyway, I'd love to take you up on the offer. I'll drop you a line.
