250DC Windshield problems

Postby cross21114 » Mon Jul 21, 2014 5:58 pm

My windshield is coming apart. Probably due to too many trips in water beyond what we should be in.

The screws are coming out so the pieces are separating and the glass is coming out of the gaskets. Any advise on the best way to fix this? Looks like I should almost take the entire shield off because some of the screws are inaccessable unless I do. Hope I can put slightly bigger screws in. I actually tried to do this (take it off) but some of the screws seem to be stripped.

Contact customer service. They may be able to order the aluminum extrusions from Taylor made.

I had the same thing happen to me. I was on a trip from the Keys to Bimini and hit some rough water and the windshield on the starboard side popped out of the frame. The first thing I did to rework the windshield is to remove all the screws (under the black gasket) attached to the hull and redrilled and thru bolted all the connections using lock bolts and large washers. Then I retightened all the screws on the face of the windshield frame. I had to put some larger screws in some of the holes. I have taken many trips since and the windshield is solid and hardly flexes at all.

Thanks, Current,

I did about the same. The frame was tight to the fiberglass but had to take some screws out to lift it so I could put bigger screws in the aluminum frame. JI guess the windshield is put together and then screwed to the fiberglass. So I got it to mostly fit but still have some gaps where I could not get the glass to fit into the rubber gaskets. Used bigger screws with lock tite. Seems to be pretty rigid but have not been in real rough water yet.
