Just trying to get a feel for how many people are going to make thenrin across with the group! Would live to hook up with some other owners that fish , dive and spearfish! This will be my fourth year making the trip. Fun for all. A very friendly group. Kids are welcome. There is a mixture of divers and fisherman. I have been to Bimini over 30 times and am willing to share info. Last year there were probably a dozen boats that went across and back together. Its good for a first timer. I run from Tavernier in the Keys and meet everyone there. Let me know what info you need. I always get excited about this trip.

Can you tell me about the Bahamas cruising permit?
Do we get it when we clear customs in Bimini?
Someone mentioned that we need a "US Customs sticker" before we leave? What is that all about?
I am really looking forward to the trip but don't want any hassles from customs on either end.
Thanks.

The cruising permit is purchased when you check in with Bahamian Customs and Immigration. Check in usually is right at Bimini Sands. If they are not there you check in at the airport a few minutes away. You will be directed once you dock at Bimini Sands. The US decal is for boats 30' or larger. You should check out the US Local Boaters Option. This with a preregistration and float plan allows you to call in your re entry to the US. Otherwise you must report to a US Immigration office within 24 hours of your return.

Be on notice that if the trip gets postponed to a date you cannot accommodate, you lose your substantial deposit unless you can get there on you own within a year. I was hoping this years trip would be before the one year anniversary of last years and I could use last years deposit. No such luck.

The last two years were postponed because of weather which makes the odds greater that this year will come off as scheduled. We always have a great time and if you have never been to Bimini you are missing a fun boating adventure.
