Parts

Postby B Todd on Sun Jul 25, 2010 12:04 am

I don't post much, but I do read the forum. I see a lot of posts about getting parts straight from World Cat, but I can't figure out how. I have a 98 266 SF andI have knocked off the covers on the front nav lights. I also need the hatch shocks on the fish box and cooler on the stern. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I got great help from the factory when I bought our boat, but I am pretty sure that they made us do our purchasing from a dealer. They would ship directly to our house though, which was nice. As far as what you are looking for though, I would just probably go with aftermarket stuff. Just measure the shocks from the open and closed position and you will be able to find the size (they are pretty standard), and just order them. They can be found in regular or stainless steel. Also, for the Nav lights, there are a million different designs to choose from. Good luck, and welcome to WC.

B Todd,

The parts on your boat are 12 years old. There are better replacements available today. I wouldn't be focussed on using Worldcat replacement parts.

For gas springs, see this website: http://www.spdhardware.com/default.asp The stainless gas springs I purchased from them are holding up very well on my boat.

For nav lights, try these: http://www.innovativelight.com/led-sidelights---deck-mount_p_1471_11566_4.cfm Check ebay for better prices.

I can not recommend the innovative LED lights.  We've had four go bad -- one which went dead short at the light. Green has failed three times, red once -- we now are using attwood 2 mile LEDs from West Marine with good results
Very Respectfully,

Capt Larry

I replaced my running lights with the units from Innovative Marine in Iowa, and when they failed, i called them up and they were very polite and sent me new ones that were greatly imporved that have now functioned for two years without a problem. Their initial light had problems, but they are very good now that their QC has improved. I just wonder what it is going to take to bring some of our manufacturing back to the US.
