Honda 225 Fuel Management gauge

Where does the gauge get the speed info? It used to work, but now it reads usually about 1/2 of the actual speed that my GPS says? So it says my mileage is really bad:)

While I have you - I assume that the fuel usage is the sum of both engines, correct?

I'm having a similar problem with my 150's and posted the question earlier today on the Hull Truth. One recommendation was to cut off electric to both engines and see if that would reboot the system; the other to make sure the speedometer tubes are clean (I don't know where these are).

I do know that the center guage can be set to read either engine or both so you need to check that.

I'm still having a problem with this. At high speed, I get very low readings (both speed and mpg). At slow speed, I get higher readings. The whole thing is screwed up.

Anyone have any ideas what I should clean or try? Where do the engines get the speed through the water reading?

Thanks,

Chris

Hey Chris,
My 2003, Honda 225s have a small port in the front of my lower unit. Its not real obvious, but when I tilt the motor up u can see the black hose going into the engine cowl. I don't use mine. We use a Nav man.... or I try to... its one aggraviting piece of crap.... my left brain wife can use it, I want to smash it soooooo bad. Would not recomend one at all, not even for free. Hope this helps.

Robin,

Thanks - should have checked this weekend when we were anchored up at Assateague. Guess I should take a small piece of wire to see if I can open it up.
