Postby Evan » Thu Feb 12, 2009 7:03 am

I need some advise.
I want to install some flush mount rod holders one just forward of the in gunwale rod storage and one up by the anchor locker.
Whose do I buy and 0deg or 15deg.
Plus any other tips.
Thanks Evan

I've added three to each side on my 250SF. They are from a marine salvage yard and are stainless with liners and cross-bars at the bottom. I suppose a purist could contact WC to try to match the factory items. Mine are placed one just behind the center cleat, one just forward and one by the anchor locker. I considered putting some in the forward area but it appears the grab rail will cause issues in using them. They are all 15 degree and seem to work fine.

One caution: One day a few months ago, we had four people on the boat. My "normal" trip is just two of us. Since we had four, I moved the bait tray forward to the rod holder just behind the grab rail. When we were headed in during the later part of the day, the seas were up a bit and one of the waves was a bit bigger (as every few waves tend to be) and the boat launched. Not an unusual event except when the tail came down and then the forward portion of the boat came down, the bait tray stayed up as we drove out from under it. I "assumed" the liner would work to keep sufficient grip on it but that was not the case. Anyway, we now are sure to keep the bait tray in one of the two rear (factory) rod holders when underway.

Install some Lee rod holders. You won't have gimbal pins twisting out later!
