Anyone ever added a livewell?

Postby wizness » Sun Jun 24, 2018 3:48 pm

On my 98 266 sf the previous owner of the boat bought it new with basically no opinions including no live well. I have a aerator in there now that recirculates the water but have to add and drain water manually. I have no water pickup plumbing etc. Has anyone ever added a livewell after the fact? And if so any idea on cost? Im finally almost finished redoing my boat but this popped into my mind. I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap but just curious if it's an option. Thanks.

Rule Marine Tournament Series Livewell Pump with strainer and fill valve about $70

TH Marine TH1890T Livewell Drain 1 1/8 In Low Th- overflow $30

some hose and a scupper and you can install it yourself.

A simple switch can turn it on

Amazon search and you have less than $200

Good luck

Where you you put the intake though for the pump? Just low on the bottom of the sponson? Even if I did do that setup I don't know how comfortable I'd feel with a plastic thruhull anyways. Would like a valve or something metal. Guess I wouldn't really need a high speed pickup if a regular thruhull type on the back of the transom could be used.

The back of the transom is fine, nothing can catch or hit it there. Worlcat OEM location is on the inside of the sponson,.

Just below the water line is fine to work at slow speeds.

You can find metal pickups and valves if you prefer, but all pumps are plastic.

Worlcat puts a checkvalve in the pump outlet line so the livewell will not siphon back empty.
