230sf with df140's owners chime in, need prop info

Postby slickcav » Wed Jan 31, 2018 5:54 pm

My dad's boat he recently bought is only turning 5200 rpm's WOT. There is not a single printed number on the stainless props to even know what size I'm spinning.

Any owners with the same set up the care to chime in on which props they are spinning and what type of performance they are getting

Since no one answered with actual info, here is a Honda test site. The closest it gets for you is the Worldcat 250 with 150's, but if you notice, the prop sizes remain pretty consistent across the board for the different size cats. The 15-1/4" by 17 or 19 pitch is pretty common. Good luck, hope it helps !

Was finally able to knock some grime off the props and find the markings on it.

14x20’s but I am turning 5200 WOT.

Also noteworthy both of my engines are standard rotation. I’ve reached out to WC and am waiting to hear back if that’s how these were rigged from factory. Majority of my reading said that most cats are outfitted with a standard rotation engine and that they should be rigged so that both props turn outward. ???

maybe its your tach! what is your speed at wot. maybe they are mounted to low, are you trimming up all the way ?not enough info to call....other then the other boat with the same set up hitting 6200!
rotation won't matter much. when my boat was new, there was no counter rotating 140's. I had 2 stroke Suzuki stanadard rotaton. they were always trimmed a bit differently to level the boat a t cruise, but yhe boat still did around 40-42 mph. cant remember tack, but 2 stroke is different wot rpm anyway.

I appreciate the feedback the other member who said he has 14 x 20 is has not commented back to confirm those are truly the props that he is turning

Motors are mounted at correct height the speeds are significantly slower than other members who have the same set up so it is not tach issue.

Got my DF140's and will start upgrade on Monday.
So is the prop of choice 14 x 20?
