side door

Postby beach_trade » Thu Feb 21, 2008 10:35 am

The Sea Vee 39 has a side door which would be perfect on a World Cat due to the high gunnel height inherent with cats.

Wonder if I can cut one into my 266???

Sea Vee has done a few things right but, I wouldn't put the side door on that list.

Its great at a Boat show, but real life? It had me scratching my head.

The link posted shows a boat w/o the door on. Its rather thick. Spanish Fly just aired a show using the side door to land a Wahoo. It wasn't the door parting the line that gave me vindication of my doubts but the footage of opening the door in what i would call a mild sea.

See if you can catch a re-run

I like my aft centered door.

Glenn,

THe real reason why some of these boat builders are using a side door is they have NO ROOM for an aft door with the trips and quad motors. THe aft door is useless on those boats.

Hey, picture this! Open the side door and take a few minutes to maneuver and pull your catch through in a 3-4' seas. Now lets up the ante and make it a 3-4' beam sea! :o
