I love my 2006 27te, but there are a bunch of minor annoyances that seem easy to correct..

1. The battery compartment is designed poorly. Did you guys ever try to check electrolyte levels or replace a battery? You have to lift the battery straight up a few inches then slide it out. When I try to lift it out with the handle, it gets caught on a screw head and blocked by the edge of the enclosure. I gashed my hand on it.. scared my dock neighbor with all of the blood:) The easy fix is to mold in a little ramp from the floor of the battery box up to the lip of the opening.. which would make it easy to slide it in and out. Better yet would be make the bottom of the battery compartment a little higher so the battery slides straight out and not have to lift it.

2. I have Honda engines.. and flushing them is a pain in the neck.. how hard would it be to install a hose to each engine permanently that leads to one quick disconnect fitting on the transom in an easy to reach place?

1. Just replaced all 4 batteries with blue top Optimas. I agree, a total PIA. But at least I don't have to check fluids anymore.

2. My neighbor's mechanic ran hoses from his Honda 225s into the hull to a threaded thru-hull on his starboard side. I thought they would get knocked off if he bumped a dock wrong. I keep my 320EC in the water, so I put quick disconnects on the rear flush plugs.
I just pop the caps off, pop the hoses in, the hoses are connected to a Y-valve, turn the water on for 15 minutes. Done.

The quick disconnects will probably work and should be easy to implement.. thanks for the idea.

Do we really need to flush for a full 15 minutes? I haven't been doing it that long. More like 5 minutes each - but one at a time. Guess adding the Y adapter and doing both at the same time would ease the pain!

Another technique is not flush after each sortie, but flush with saltaway at the 100 hour service. We have been doing this with good results for several years. We have Hondas with over 2000 hours on them that run great -- all without the daily flush with fresh water -- however we run our boats several times a week or about 400 to 600 hours per year.

how many hours on your yamaha fs engine and their model numbers.Appears F225 ,first couple of years out have more problems.
they now use the F250 part numbers.
we don't flush after each outing also and use SALT AWAY similar to your procedure.
We got 4100 hours on first set of 2005 F250s.
Now we have ~3000 hours on replacement F250s basically ~2008 models because they are serial number generated into groups.
They have 4 water inlets on each lower unit. That also makes it hold about 6-7 oz less LU oil.

They was driven by the shallow water go fast Bubba Boys.
We can't tell one iota difference in cooling ability or speed increase. The only thing 4 LU inlets do is turn the oil blacker sooner.If you are out of warranty use synthetic gear lube. Surprisingly the Big ASS V8 5.3L yamies with huge gears and shafts use Yam synthetic gear lube.

F200-250 Makes it a pain in the ass to do a quick engine run out of the water. ==== Mask off front pickups or a barrell full of water,
PITA for removing the special inlet screws............ Some changes don't help.
