Re: World Cat Search

I have a 226 w/115s. WOT is around 37 w/dirty bottom paint. When the bottom is clean, I can usually hit 39-40. This is with a half tank, 4 guys, gear, ice, etc. Before bottom paint, it would hit ~42 mph. I think I could get better results if I had a better prop. Nice thing about the 115s, I see arou...

My condolences to Ken's family. I personally benefitted from his wisdom and experience. This forum will not be the same without him.

Re: SeaStar Helm Problem

It sounds like you need to bleed the system. Some air may have gotten in it when it was over pressurized. I've had the same issue with slop in the steering (ultimately caused by a leaky cylinder seal which allowed air into the system). After replacing the seal I bled the system, but not well enough....

Re: BEST STEERING SYSTEM FOR LARGE CAT

Welcome Scot, If the motors are toeing out, then you have an issue with the hydraulic system that needs to be addressed. When I had this issue, the wall in one of my port hydraulic cylinder was corroded. Your best bet may be to pull the rams apart and inspect the internals. I haven't had to realign ...

Re: Is this too much power for a 226SF

I picked a WC because of how well it handles a 2-3' GOM chop, especially for 22' boat. Speed at calm conditions, which don't occur that often, would just be an added bonus. I'm not looking to run 60, but it would be nice to have a WOT in the upper 40's so I could have an economical cruise in the mid...

Re: Is this too much power for a 226SF

175s would be a nice setup for your boat too.

It's a moot point now. I didn't pull the trigger fast enough and the motors are now sold.

Either way, I would like to know for future purposes what I can/can't do (in the event another deal comes along).

Nice job on the sails, BTW
