Re: let's talk milage

My 2008 290DC gets a consistent 1.5 MPG at 4150 and 30-31 MPH with 4 passengers, gear, and full tanks of fuel and water. That's best cruise, at least for my boat. On a calm day with 1/2 fuel and wind at my back going downhill I'll sometimes see 1.6. Although many advise trimming the engines out and...

Re: let's talk milage

if I remember correctly 3500 rpm is abt 25 mph, 4000 rpm is abt 30, 4500 rpm is abt 35. The 290 is a great ride at 5000 rpm (40 mph and 1.1 mpg ?) if the waves are 1.5 or less. The hull can slam with the "right" 2-3' waves so I take what I can get without a lot of pounding. World Cat says ...

Re: let's talk milage

Covered about 130 miles on the last fishing trip. Left with 3 guys, full gas tanks, full fresh water, ice and gear. Went out (50 miles?) at 3,800 - 4,300 rpm, got some bait, filled the livewell, slow trolled, changed locations at 9-10 knot fast troll, more slow trolling, more fast trolling, did som...

Re: EPIRB Mounting Location on 270TE

Class I is hydrostatic release, Class II is manual release. I went thru this when I got my 290DC and finally decided to not mount the EPIRB. I have an ACR model and the hydrostatic release will trigger once the mount is 4 to 13 feet under water. World Cat doesn't post much info about how their model...

Re: Ditch kit recommendations

I got a 6 man Revere Offshore liferaft. Going up to 50+ miles offshore Alabama to fish with water temp below 60 in the winter to me meant liferaft. Boat has auto-inflate PFDs and a SOLAS type 1 PFD with signal light and whistle attached for each passenger. Ditch bag has EPIRB, floating handheld VHF ...

Re: Storage of lead weights on boat

Same question came up on The Hull Truth and someone suggested a tool holder bag from Milwaukee. The part number is 49-17-0110. Home Depot sells it for about $19 but I found them for about $10 each + shipping on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-49-17-0110-Contractor-Parts-Organizer/dp/B000F713...

Re: 290DC -- Family Boat or Fishing Boat?

Very nicely done. You got me thinking. Was the add-on custom built? Or were you able to buy it and then install?
