230 wc owners - real gas #'s - stern seat options

Hi Gang, I just sold my 1998 246 sf/130 hondas/trailer. I am thinking of getting one more newish boat before being too old to fish. Seriously thinking of getting a 23 ft cc with single 250 Yami to double my gas mileage(from 1.7 to 3.3 mpg) and decrease maintenance costs. A 230 2008-2009 would be a c...

Re: Weather Enclosure for 246SF ? Ideas anyone?

HI, I have had the 3 pieces around the center console and 'wing's to the gunnels for all of my 13 seasons. just replaced the 3 piece around the console last yr. the wings i only use in cold wx, other wise they are not on the boat. in cold wx they hang from the hard top, side zip to the cc piece, and...

Re: 246SF trailer setup

Hi Robert, Ron (one fish ) here. first time we tried to put the cat on the trailer we missed and hit the crossbeam and did fg damage. Virgil (tf) got me a big ole thick fire hose that I wrapped around the beam. Won't solve your problem permently, but might help in the mean time. Of course I hardly e...

Re: WHY 'improved performance' on Repower?

Thx Guys, esp Fly.

Capt L - prob good advice. think I need to step back, find a new honda mech (prob have to be mobile) and hold tight.

Motors are good, just other items such as steering arms, relay switch, few other switches, etc (usual maintenance i'm sure for a 12 yr old rig).

Thx. Ron

Re: WHY 'improved performance' on Repower?

Hi 70,

1998 246 sf power cap is 150 and 150 = 300 total hp. I think the new models rated a higher hp.
thanks. ron :)

Re: WHY 'improved performance' on Repower?

Hi Fly, thanks alot. I didn't mean anything 'negative', just trying to research, as I know you did. We know this is a major decision, and everything helps. :) I really have heard over the yrs that 150's will give the 246 better performance/handling/etc. was trying to understand the reasoning. I did ...

Re: 1998 246SF - Re-power or Sell or not-Help

Hi Fly, Thanks a lot. that is great info. I would be happy with that type of #'s. and I don't fish the ocean or have that much wgt on board, so as you said, prob do better. right now suz has total $500 rebate for the 2 motors and 6 yr warr. If I can get a good price from mech, strongly consider doin...

WHY 'improved performance' on Repower?

Hi Guys, A followup question on my post about selling/repowing/keeping my 1998 246sf/1999 130 hondas. REcently and over the yrs I have seen comments like the above 'improved performance' on repowers or just more hp engines. I know the 246 is rated for 300hp and I have 260, with 1000 lbs. so, If I we...
